When the oil spilled first happen people were outraged. They were horrified at the wildlife that was being affected and people losing their jobs, but then something happened. The iPhone 4 was announced. Everyone quickly forgot about the oil spill and devoured every piece of iPhone 4 news. Here was the opportunity. I am very confident in saying that if Apple said, "We will not release the iPhone until BP stops the oil spill," people would have been knocking down BP's door with pitchforks and torches. The very thought of people not getting their iPhone right away would have put enough pressure and attention on BP and they would have had no choice.

I could also be completely wrong, but I doubt it:)
